Returning to Ashland

Summer 2011 - Ashland, Oregon

I had only been to Ashland once before this summer - in 2007. So going back I wondered if it would still be as magical as I remembered it.

Ashland is home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, one of my favorite Theatres in the United States. Unlike it's name would suggest, it is not actually a festival but a 9 out of 12 month Theatre that does many beautiful plays in three venues - Including the Elizabethan, which is outside (photo here).

I also think Ashland's small-western-town-in-the-summer feel works great with this slightly strange film.

First shot was the view from my residence for the summer, which was a great thing to wake up to in the morning. The retro ford, I passed on the way to work along with the pretty purple flowers. The English lions, along with many other crests, line the lampposts on the main streets, just in case anyone forgot Ashland was full of theatre folks. The final photo is of the historic Ashland Springs Hotel, though you can hardly see it under all the sun flare.

ps. It's the 1st of September!! I am probably on my way to Edinburgh as you read this post!

Using Up Film

Spring & Summer 2011 - Delft, Dublin, Wassenaar

The problem that I have with my Lomography cameras is this - I take film photos of something or somewhere really cool, like Sicily, and then I still have about 10 shots on my camera. Three months later, I finally develop them.

The first three shots are of Delft, all taken around the town square.
The next two are from Dublin, one taken while walking across the Liffey, and the other looking straight up from Front Arch in Trinity.
The final shot brings us back to Holland, in the fields outside of Wassenaar where my dad and I were riding our bikes.

So I Found...

Spring 2011 - Sicily

I can't believe I forgot that I brought my Diana Mini with me to Sicily! Took me forever to use up this film, too (as you'll be able to see by the next few posts...).

The first photo is from Poggioreale, digitals here, the second is from the ruins of a castle in the town of Enna.

I especially love the next three. I didn't really get a good shot of the Greek Theatre at Segesta with my digital camera, but I quite love this film one. There's also something about shooting ruins with film that just works. Digitals here.

Final shot from Cefalu, the same church as in the first photo of the other post here.

Ahem... I'm back!

So I don't actually remember the last time I posted. Do you?
The question is, can I catch up this time...

Fall 2010 - County Galway, an almost town called Clare Tuam (Clare Toomb)
Shot with the Diana Mini

A lovely day for walking down a country pathway.

For anyone out there who actually looks at this, I hope to be posting more.
As I'm graduating soon, I should have plenty of free, unemployed time in my future.
Here's to more posts!

Finally in Ireland

Alright so jumping forward in time, though I'm still way back in September (eek!!)

This is Howth, which is a town that is on a peninsula right out side of Dublin County.

Basically it's just very pretty, and there's lots of fresh seafood.

St. Bavo's - Haarlem

(This post has been in the, "Ready to be Posted" section for about... 3 months. Eeesh)

We're talking Haarlem in Holland, not in NYC.
St. Bavo's is a massive cathedral - well known for it's organ, which has been played by Handel and Mozart.

Edinburgh - From the Summer...

I was talking to a good friend on Skype the other day, and she informed me that it made her sad when I did not update my blog. Apologies. Let's see if I can ever catch up..

Oranjefest

This was when my camera was still set to "bulb" and overexposing stuff in daylight like a jerk.
But at night...

It was perfect for Oranjefest.

Wishing for Winter

I may or may not have listened to Christmas carols last night.

Also I've just gone on a big digital editing kick, so hopefully more posts more often.

I need to shoot in square more often.
These two are from SLC and the High Line in NYC

Suzanne's House Black and White

Yes, there will always be more :)

Uglies - just so...photogenic?

This is one of my favourites - Suzanne amongst one of her collections + her dog.

It's finally fall in Dublin but I seriously cannot wait until Christmas!

Also my parents will be in town this weekend. They come bearing a gift - a new camera!

Silly Me

The reason there haven't posted anything recently is because I'm afraid of running out of photos.
Even though I haven't yet. Perhaps illogical?

These photos could perhaps be called mistakes. But I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.
I had my Diana Mini on the Bulb setting by accident, the one used for long exposures,
and this is what I got. However,
I think that especially these photos have the quality of something from a children's fairytale.

 I like them!
