Glendalough Once Again

Summer 2011 - Glendalough

You can see the photos from the first time I visited here.
Loved it just as much the second time - and I have such drastically different photos.

Delft - Around Town

Spring 2011 - Delft

When in Delft you can wander around the Market Square, go to the bear themed Cafe, or admire old stained glass in antique shops.

We stopped at Cefalu on the way to the airport. Good Choice, eh?

Sicily - Segesta

Spring 2011 - Sicily, Segesta

Outside of the Ancient Greek settlement of Segesta are the ruins of an incomplete Doric Temple. The town itself is also beautiful, with many ruins and an amazing theatre.

Ruderi di Poggioreale Pt. II

Spring 2011 - Sicily, The Ruins of Poggioreale

Apparently this town has been used in filming because it looks like a bombed out town from WWII.
I think it's beautiful.

Ruderi di Poggioreale Pt. I

Spring 2011 - Sicily,  The Ruins of Poggioreale

This is the town my Dad's Grandfather (my Great Grandfather) lived in. It was destroyed in an earthquake in 1968, so they moved the city down the hill. Since the city was not completely destroyed, they have left the ruins accessible to anyone who is interested. Needless to say a lot of photos were taken here (there are some film ones I'll have to put up eventually!)

Palermo

2011 - Sicily, Palermo

The first two photos are of the Fountain of Shame, as it is known locally, which was built originally for a villa in Florence but was moved to the city when the inhabitant of the villa was tight on cash.
The next three are of the Palermo Cathedral, whose facade is a fantastic mix of all the architecture of those cultures who lived in Palermo.

Palermo is a diverse and busy city, for sure. It was great fun to spend about two days in, but after that it got a little claustrophobic, so we set out on day trips.

Sicily - Driving to Palermo

2011 - Sicily

The first two are from the town Caltagirone, known for it's tiles. The whole time we were there it was pouring, but it was beautiful none the less.
The second two were taken on the drive to Palermo, the second from the castle on the mountain top town Enna.

Sicily - Siracusa Pt. II

2011 - Sicily, Siracusa

These are all from the old part of the town.
That second one is my mother - I kept taking photos of her, so she made that face.
I love it.

Sicily - Siracusa Pt. I

Spring 2011 - Sicily

Last spring I went with my family to Sicily, and perhaps unsurprisingly, took many (many) photos.
The first three are from the park of Greek and Roman ruins, which also includes that crazy cave.
The last two are right from the main part of Siracusa.

Visiting Wassenaar - Friends

Wassenaar - April 2011

Basically I have some really pretty friends who let me take photos of them.
