The Sights of Berlin

Winter 2011 - Berlin

Of course while in Berlin we tramped all around to see the sights. The Brandenburg Gate, of course, and then this bridge. I actually took the first photo on the way to the Pergamum Museum, and the second one on the way out! Great difference in light.

If you've ever looked at my blog before, you can probably tell that I really love taking photos of the locks on bridges, and really just locks in general. So obviously I had to stop. I actually love the locks on this bridge specifically, as there's something really poetic about them being on the arms of the bridge angel.

Berlin at Christmas

Winter 2011 - Berlin

Every year my family and I go to Christmas markets in Germany.
There is nothing better than eating a German wurst while drinking Gluhwein (mulled wine) in the chilly days leading up to Christmas. Being in a city as diverse and unique as Berlin only made it better.

One of the things I absolutely love about Christmas markets, though, are the way they light up in the evening. The glow of twinkle lights somehow does manage to warm your heart, even on the coldest of nights.

Speakeasy You Say?

Fall 2011 - Sarah Lawrence

My friend Lauren (her blog here), pictured in the first and third photo, loves throwing parties. In fact, she threw the Halloween party in my previous post! In November, she decided to host a Speakeasy. Lauren is the queen of hosting all things themed, especially if they took place in a different decade. We all dressed accordingly.

Fall 2011 - Sarah Lawrence

Hallowe'en is always a good time to bust out the black and white.
My friend Lauren decided we should have a Hallowe'en party, so we put on our costumes, and made alcoholic gummy worms.

ps. Eek! Onto Fall 2011... I may just be getting somewhere!
(pps. My friend Hailey (bottom photo) was kind enough to feature this photo on her website - http://www.haileybachrach.com/index.html)

The Garden of the Flying Pig

 Summer 2011 - Houston, Suzanne's Garden

All these metalwork sculptures are, of course, by the same guy.
The flying pig, the bottle tree, and the huge zipper.
Check out the background of the second photo - behind the pink cactus flowers, there may be lurking a kitty.

Around Instagam - Walking

Summer 2012 - Wassenaa

These photos are from a walk in a nature reserve near my house. This is the first time I've experienced lens flare with an iPhone, I have to say I quite like it!

Suzanne's Garden - Black and White and Collections

Summer 2011 - Houston, Suzanne's Garden

Suzanne likes to collect things - pretty, cool, whacky things, but none the less, they collect.
The first photo is by a metal sculpture that creates sea creatures out of car parts. This is one of the many that inhabit this garden.
Then there are the wind chimes - always a new one every time I come by.
The vintage lawn chairs...
And the bottle tree. The palm leaves? So many Heineken bottles.

Did Someone Say Texas Burbon?

Summer 2011 - Houston, Suzanne's House

Suzanne and her husband Charles are really amazing about supporting local brands.
One of their favorites is Garrison Brothers. Suzanne wanted me to take some photos to send them, and this is what I ended up with. Once again this is the Pogo cat - posing without any coaxing from me!

Around Instagram - Creatures and Food

Summer 2012 - Holland

Photos of the Kee-Tays hanging out, enjoying the sun when it decides to show up...
And food. My first attempt at making a macaroon (my second attempt did not look this good) and a coffee from Coffee Star in Leiden.

The Furs

Summer 2011 - Houston, Suzanne's House

Suzanne's house is by far one of my favorite places to take photos.
Pictured here are Atticus (the corgi with the small ears), Chaps (the corgi with the big ears) and Pogo, the curious little cat.

Scheveningen Sunset

Summer 2011 - Scheveningen

Well this was a lucky catch.
Sunset, beach, sailboat(s), and a beautiful pink sky.
