Sun on the Snow

Another comment about me posting: For the five weeks I am at the O'Neill doing my internship, my posts will be less frequent, as I am busy :)

These photos are the ones from the day after the snow day, blue sky and all!

No Longer MIA

The reason I was missing for a week was that I visited a friend in Chicago, and had little to no computer time. Now I am at the O'Neill Theatre Center, where I will be for the next five weeks. Yay!
My room, on the third floor, with no fan, is making me dream of winter, so perhaps it is apt to continue my winter photos?

And some more of the arbor.
I may have been really cold then, but I sure miss it now!

Leaving Me in the USA

I am taking a short break from my digital Snow Day photos because today my mother flies back to Holland. I am still here in the USA for another six weeks, but I will be leaving Houston soon, though I really cannot wait to be back in Holland.

This is what I miss:

Both of these photos were taken in Leiden, which is only a short bus ride away from my village.
Six weeks!

Snow Days

The arbor covered in snow,

Tree branches,

And Westlands. I always find that this building looks most majestic when it's covered in snow.

Dealing With Summer

I am in Houston, TX right now, and it is hot. Like 98 F or 37 C hot.
Needless to say, I cannot wait for the milder weather in Connecticut and/or Holland.
With thoughts of cooler weather, I thought I'd go into my digital snow day photos:

The Teahaus,

Bikes rendered useless :)

Westlands through branches

And Mead Way covered in snow.

I also had my Diana Mini with me on this snow day.
Check out the photos, like this:

Indoor Market

This is from the same indoor market I mentioned below.
Loved all the fresh fruit!

Suzanne

Suzanne is one of my mother's friends. She is very eccentric, and very wonderful.
Suzanne likes to have art in her house from those around her. For instance, at the moment, she has multiple photos done by my mother, and a coloured pencil drawing of converse by me.
Soon she will also have these three photos hanging in her office:

The first photo was taken the day before Easter at an indoor market on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, the second was taken late at night at Rockefeller Center this past winter, and the third in Wassenaar, (Holland,) on my walk to the shopping street this spring.

Thank you Suzanne!

A new camera has been added to my collection

Yay!

To Holland

Today my father flies back to Holland.

In honor of that here is a photo of how lovely The Hague is in Spring.

Have a good flight dad!

Needless to say it was beautiful.

It's Dark Out

It's a rainy day here in Houston, Texas.
So this morning, instead of waking up to sunshine I woke up to cloudy and gray.
Maybe it's time for some night shots?

A street in NYC at night with the Diana Mini

And then not on the blur setting, but with a slight amount of movement. Again, in NYC at night, I think right out side of Grand Central?

Final Festival Photos

These are the last of the New Island Festival bunch.
There were just so many interesting things out for the festival,

Like this chalk wall sculpture

Or these paintings, done by Dutch art students

And this contraption, that turned into an acrobatic, theatrical performance after dark.
It was good times.

Governors Island

Governors Island is gorgeous.

Especially with all the art from the Festival all around.

Governors Island used to be a kind of Military base and the architecture reflects that. There are all these big stately buildings that look almost southern, surrounded by huge trees and streets. And directly over the trees is the New York City skyline. It's really a beautiful place.

New Island Festival

The New Island Festival was an Arts festival that was held in New York on Governor's Island as a part of the events taking place in The Netherlands and New York City to celebrate the 400th year since Henry Hudson landed on Manhattan. One of the attractions was a performance by Boom Chicago, an Amsterdam based, American run theatre group that works similarly to Second City. I interned for Boom Chicago, so I headed out to see them, and had a wonderful time with my friend Emily exploring the festival.

More photos to come :)
